1948-53 Self-taught photography 1957-58 Served in Royal Air Force, Malaysia 1959 Photographic assistant, John French Studio, London 1960 Contract fashion photographer for Vogue magazine, freelance photographer working for Sunday Times, Daily Telegraph, Elle, Glamour, etc. 1966- onwards: Director of commercials 1968-71 Director and producer of television documentaries, including "Beaton", "Warhol" and "Visconti". Honorary Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, London 1975 Fellow Society of Industrial Artists and Designers, London 1976 Proprietor and Co-Editor, with David Lichfield, Ritz newspaper 1980's Married Catherine 1992-99 Directed several notable films and documentaries, including "The Lady is a Tramp" which he also wrote, and which coincided with the publication of his book of the same name. 2001 Awarded CBE
