Are you still calling me a nihilist, or did you finally realize it was realism? I just saw it clearly, at a certain point—it wasn't going to work. The plan was doomed from the beginning. I figured that out somewhere in the middle of the road, so I pulled over and sat there, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by emptiness. I’ve never believed in God, but I’ve always believed in science. You look at the traces, and you see the pattern—empirically. It was made to fail. Even bacteria become resistant to antibiotics. Why wouldn’t they?
